On August 3, 2021, the National Council on Electricity Policy hosted Public Service Commission staff, consumer advocates, researchers and energy industry experts at a discussion about maximizing transmission capacity. 

Chairman Ted Thomas of the Arkansas Public Service Commission moderated discussion with three expert presenters:

  • Michelle Manary, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Energy Resilience Division, U.S. Department of Energy Office of Electricity
  • Jay Caspary, Vice President, Grid Strategies LLC
  • Dr. Babak Enayati, DG Standards and New Technology, National Grid US

The discussion covered Department of Energy goals and approaches to transmission capacity, an overview of the WATT Coalition’s Unlocking the Queue with Grid Enhancing Technologies study, and a presentation of National Grid’s approach to Grid Enhancing Technologies in the United States.
