“Enhancing the Grid: Technology, Policy, and Incentives"

IEEE PES Grid Edge Technologies Conference – San Diego, CA, 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm PST, April 11, 2023

The first panel about Grid Enhancing Technologies at this IEEE PES meeting will outline recent advancements in GETs and describe policies and initiatives intended to help drive their adoption. The speakers will address how utilities are integrating GETs to meet evolving grid challenges and help to facilitate the rapid growth of renewable energy assets on the grid. The panel will focus on current/future legislation and regulation in the United States and their implications for utilities and consumers.

The second panel at the IEEE PES conference in San Diego looks at how GETs are used by utilities. The speakers are:

"Transitions Under Crisis: Technology, Investments, and Geopolitics"

MIT Energy Conference – Boston, MA, 11:20 am – 12:20 pm EST, April 12, 2023 

LineVision’s CEO, Hudson Gilmer, will speak about grid modernization in this context alongside Peter Markussen, Energinet; Doug Smith, ISO-NE; Alexina Jackson, AES; and Kelly Friend, Nexamp. 

The panel will discuss how infrastructure, policy, and technology must be reevaluated in order to meet decarbonization goals, electrification goals, and increase the reliability and security of the grid.

 

"Grid Enhancing Technologies in the Field: How U.S. System Operators and Utilities are Implementing Dynamic Line Ratings, Advanced Power Flow Control and Topology Optimization"

Grid Modernization Forum – Arlington, VA, 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm EST, June 13, 2023

Julia Selker will be presenting examples of deployments of GETs in NY, MISO, and the southeast to show how these technologies are already delivering value to US ratepayers. The presentation will cover how utilities and states can leverage federal funding to get more out of their transmission system.

Transmission & Interconnection Summit – Arlington, VA, 8:30 am – 9:30 am EST, June 14, 2023 

Rodica Donaldson, the Senior Director of Transmission Analytics at EDF Renewables, and Julia Selker, Executive Director of the WATT Coalition, will be on this panel discussing the benefits, costs, and barriers to investments in Grid-Enhancing Technologies.
